Our teachers provide an environment in which inspiration, enthusiasm, creativity and genuine scholarship all thrive. Our students develop lifelong passions for academic work and they have a great deal of fun along the way.

We aim for the widest possible social access – admitting students regardless of social, cultural, religious and financial background.

Each of our students is an individual and the well-being of each member of our community is promoted and supported by strong pastoral care.

Our students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own work and for the support, leadership and guidance they might provide for others, to develop independence of mind and spirit. We want our students to make the most of the tremendous opportunities we provide for them. Within every student, there is a spark which we aim to ignite.

Personal tours are with our Admissions, who would be happy to show you and your child around.

We are a regional school and, as such, we provide a school bus. Please see our Transportation link for further details.

We have a wide array of clubs, societies, after-school activities, trips and visits for all our students.

What are the entry stages at NBS?

  • Early Years at NBS at ages 2, 3, or 4 (Pre KG, KG, Reception)
  • Key Stage 1 at ages 5, 6, 7 (Year 1 and 2)
  • Key Stage 2 at ages 8, 9, 10, 11 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6)
  • Secondary School, normally at age 11 (Year 7 – Year 11)
  • Sixth Form at age 16+ (Year 12)

Applications open in January for the following academic year. All potential students complete an assessment test as part of the admissions process.

Please return your application to us as soon as possible. We shall continue to accept applications for fee-paying places after that date, but the number of assessment dates available and our ability to match your child to the appropriate assessment occasion will then be more limited.

Please contact our Admissions team to discuss any individual Late Entry requirements.

It is best if your child arrives with an open mind, ready to respond to new ideas and challenges. Their ability to manipulate numbers, work with texts, think creatively and solve puzzles are all part of the assessment process.

We do not have a formal quota for entry to the school, and so admission can, therefore, adjust our provision accordingly. The important question is whether or not a student will flourish within NBS. If we believe that they will thrive here, we shall offer a place.
